SIBU: The Sibu Foochow Association sees immense business opportunities in the visit of a six-member delegation from Chengdu, China.The delegation was at the Sibu Foochow Association Centennial Building in Salim Road yesterday.
A dialogue session was held between them and the executive committee of the association headed by its chairman Tiong Kiong King.
During the dialogue session, Tiong said he believed the delegation’s visit to Sibu would gave an impetus to trade between Sarawak and Chengdu, China.
He said Sarawak in general and Sibu in particular were increasing and improving their export products to
tap the immense market in China.
Acknowledging the importance of exports in a nation’s economy, Tiong said Japan, Korea and the United States exported to many countries, and that explained why they
were economically powerful.
Feng Yue Guo, the head of the delegation, said Chengdu welcomed investments from Sarawak, particularly in the tourism sector.
Besides the sceneries and historical sites, Chengdu offered lip-smacking exotic food, Fend enthused.
While here, the delegation also visited the Yu Lung Sang Tien En Si temple, Chuang Corridor and Wong Nai Siong Memorial Park.
